Guidelines for Strategic Planning
- Make the plan realistic
- Involve “implementers” in the planning process
- Specify responsibilities, deadlines, ownership and tasks
- Describe the first 90 days of the plan’s implementation
- Transition the plan’s actions into the job descriptions and reviews
- Divide the plan into smaller work plans for each group, sub-committee, or team
- Review the plan’s implementation regularly
- Hold people accountable on the plan’s implementation
- Ensure that leadership actively supports the plan
